Writing Portfolio
I've been writing screenplays and stageplays seriously since 2010. My credits include favorite skits for Mt. Zion School of Performing Arts, first place winner in Genisys Credit Union's "Be the Voice 2012" contest, an ad for a Leadership Oakland's Cornerstone program, and The Legend of Sir Cumference, a two-act musical comedy.
I often write comedy. My style is to create the most bizarre scenario I can and approach it with a serious tone. I also write drama but I'm not afraid to laugh a little with it. I'm very creative in all of my writing and am proud of how many ways I often break with the norm. I've primarily written screenplays, stageplays, and lyrics, but I'm also available to write for other forms including audio plays, videogames, or graphic novels. I understand the strengths of various forms and even developed a series of theories for defining their strengths. You can reach me on the contact page or with the social media links below: |
Stageplays
My primary portfolio piece is a full-length musical. You can find it on Amazon, or listen to the dramatic reading below:
The following script was part of an application to a Disney internship for script writing where I had to create a scene with the characters from Tangled. The requirements were that Flynn and Rapunzel had to teach children how to dance in the marketplace.
The following were volunteer work for a local theater school, the Mt. Zion School of Performing Arts. The formatting is atypical because they have their own standards for formatting. The scripts were written for classes of various skill levels and sizes.

Screenplays
The staff and members of Leadership Oakland's Cornerstone program never felt like they could describe the program, but after seeing this video I produced stated enthusiastically that they could send somebody a link to this video and for the first time get across its meaning.
This project came in large part from the development and understanding of Story Form theories.
(The interviews were not scripted)

I was co-writer for the video on the left, which won First Place in Genisys Credit Union's "Be the Voice 2012" competition.
The video on the right I was script editor for. I cut the script down from over 2 minutes to 1 minute as you see it now. As an actor I can easily consider the length of pieces even if the client/employer can't present them to me in script formatting.

I also developed the concepts and scripts for the following Comic City videos. I also did the animation. If you want to see my animation portfolio, click here.

The following are scripts based on a pre-existing comedy series. Though none of them were used, they led into my work on stageplays.
I wrote multiple drafts of ten 20-minute episodes and had ideas for at least a dozen more. I had at least 100 pages of brainstorming notes too, which is typical for me in the creative process.

Lyrics
My main lyrical portfolio piece is my musical comedy The Legend of Sir Cumference. You can find all of the lyrics here.
I've also written over a hundred other songs and song concepts. In addition, I have training from Berklee College of Music for Songwriting and Music Production through Coursera.

Another goofy-fun song of mine is the Puberty Blues, which you can listen to below. I created an animation for it and used it for my final project for my first computer animation class:
...and more!
I'm very comfortable and open to working in other forms. If you're looking for something different than what you see here but like my writing style, still give me a holler! I understand the strengths of various media and the core of a story (that's what my blog's all about!), so I'm very versatile.
